5 ways to wear – a bold animal print dress

Just to say this is not an AD I do not work with M&S ( I very much wish I did! )

I saw this dress in store and fell in love it’s such a great style and I wanted to share with you how versatile a printed jersey dress is to have in your wardobe.

The style of this dress is a midi length t-shirt dress, it’s a relaxed fit and has a tiered waist. As its loose fitting it will suit most shapes, with sleeves covering a little of your upper arms. The bold pattern actually helps to flatter, those like myself, with mum tums, as the pattern helps the eye glaze over that area as no attention is brought to your middle.

The power of the print

Colour is very powerful and a wearing red and pink print is a bold and striking statement. These colours have many positive attributes and together they give a powerful message. Wearing a bright colour, or in this case a bright colour combination, gives your mood a boost and can genuinely lift your mood and make you feel more confident and energized.

  • Red – the colour of warmth, power, passion, it has a high physical energy and is an energetic colour.
  • Pink – is the colour of love, caring and nurturing.

Animal print is a neutral so goes with so many things already in your wardobe, and the red based animal print is in particular such a striking combination for Autumn/Winter. Wear with black, brown or camel coats and boots to transition into the colder months.

This dress looks great with trainers or sandals for summer but it is also such a good dress to take you through the seasons. I know you are thinking summer has only just started in the UK, but this also means Autumn/Winter is round the corner.

As a stylist when advising my clients on buying new items I advise clients to really think how they can get the most wear out of the item. Ask yourself do I have things already in my wardrobe to wear with it? Can I think of at least 5 different ways that I could wear it? Can you wear it across the seasons?

The 5 ways to wear is a good sense check to see if the item is versatile to make it into your wardrobe. If you can’t think of at least 5 then it’s highly likely that it will only be worn once or a few times at best, which is not good for your cost per wear. I want my wardobe to work hard for me and I look for items that I can wear with my current wardrobe to various types of occasions. That way you spend less money on one hit wonders that you don’t have anything to wear with.

My 5 ways to wear

All of these outfit ideas would work for many bold prints, I would keep your colours to no more than 2 in the print to stop it from looking too busy. Then wear with neutral colours which creates balance across the outfit.

I’m not here to get you to shop but shoots you see something you like all items are linked just click to go direct to the brands site.
