My top 5 winter essentials

My top 5 winter essentials, this blog isn’t about the newest trends, everything in this blog I have had for years and I think form the back bones of your winter daily wardrobes year after year. I am sure most of you have these already, if not or they need updating here is what I would recommend.

For this edit I have teemed up with Louise, a Tropic Ambassador, personal styling client and sister.

If you haven’t heard of Tropic before it’s a really great brand! I love the products and use them as part of my daily skincare regime. Louise has always helped me find the right products for my skin and having sensitive skin that’s really important to me.

Now we are in Winter our skin needs extra TLC and getting your products right can really help you. Just like your winter wardrobe it’s about having the right essential products that you go to day after day, year after year.

“My names Louise and I’m an independent Tropic Ambassador, supplying skincare and beauty tailored to you. I have been using tropic for over 3 years due to skin sensitivity with chemicals in most products so I trust and believe in the brand”

1. Pleather leggings

Next £26

These are my daily go to for outfits across winter, easy to wear, comfortable and they look stylish. There are so many out there and I have featured a few of my favourites in previous blogs. See 3 ways to wear Leggings.

These ones from Next I think are the best all rounders, great price and fit is perfect, they really give you support being high waisted and I love the pleather fabric it really looks more expensive than they are. Best thing is for us shorter ladies they come in a petite leg length. They haven’t had them in stock for a while so I actually ordered 2 pairs recently as I will be living in them day to night.

2. A cosy roll neck knit

Hobbs £119

A classic jumper style that I would buy in a neutral, winter white or cream. Worn with black bottoms such leggings/ jeans / skirts etc.. creates a go to monochrome look which is classic, chic and easy to put together. You can add in colour and print with your accessories. Warm and practical my favourite are the slightly longer styles as they work best with leggings. I love the cable knit detailing on this one, again a classic style that doesn’t date.

3. A nice coat

Ted Baker £275

I would say its worth investing in coats if you can as they will stand the test of time. As the first thing most people see you in during the winter months, it’s important to get one that flatters your shape and style. You will probably need a few coats for different areas of your lifestyle and I have written a blog on practical coats for mums The Perfect school run coat

For this blog I wanted to include my favourite style coat that I think works for the majority of body shapes. The wrap coat is a classic style that will not date, it is especially great for fuller figures and pear shapes as it flatters your curves and pulls you in at the waist.

I bought this coat about 7 years ago and they are still running the same style as it’s such a timeless piece. Good quality and I love the gold finish on the accessories as it really elevates it. I am showing the short version here as its the one that I have and I also recommend it if you are petite as the length is really great on us shorter ladies. There is a long version for those who are taller or want longer look.

4. A pleated skirt

New look £23.99
comes in 4 colours

Petite optionhttps://rstyle.me/cz-n/fxru5ddmdpf

A pleated skirt it not only universally flatteting but its also as versailte as your pair of black trousers or jeans. Wear with all your tops from t shirts to jumpers, shirts to blouses they go with everything and can be easily dressed up or down depending on how you wear them. A great option for a day to night look. My favourite options would have an elasticated waist and be in a black or a neutral clour or print, for a more dressed up or festive outfit go with a metallic for an instant elevated outfit.

5. A big scarf

M&S cashmere scarf £69

For me, as I am always a cold a big scarf in the winter is 100% a wardrobe essential. A great practical item but it also can be where you add a slash of colour to your outfit and brighten up those winter days and giving you a lift. Wearing the colour that suits you the most next to your face is an instant life to your complection and can make you look healthier and more youthful so choose a colour that brings out your natural beauty, If you feel like you have no idea what colours suit you the best based on your natural colourings get in touch or check out my perfect colour and style online styling service where I can help you see how colour can really bring out your best.
