As part of looking forward to the new year it’s always a good thing to reflect on the year that’s passed. In this blog I’m taking a look back at what I’d bought over the last 12 months and see what I’d consider as my top 5 best purchase’s of the year and why. It’s a really good thing to do for yourself to see what lessons you have learnt about yourself, your style and shopping habits.
It’s also really useful to try and evaluate what thing’s you bought that weren’t such great choices and why, be honest with yourself and you will learn from those mistakes. We all do it!
So here are my top 5 purchases of 2021

1. H&M Linen joggers
I bought these linen joggers in 2 colours as after living in joggers for lockdown, I wanted a summer alternative for everyday and these really fitted the bill. They are so easy to wear, go with all my t-shirts and I wore with sandals or trainers. Definitely my most worn item of the summer months and I will be living in these again next summer.
They are still online but not the colour khaki that I’m showing here. I am hoping they bring this colour and others back for next spring.
A pair of jogger style trousers that you can wear in and out of the house and still feel comfortable and stylish have to be the ultimate go to trouser. I’ve selected a few from the high street currently and I really don’t think this style is going anywhere.
2. M&S Linen blazer
I bought this linen blazer and knew it would be a staple in my wardrobe for years to come. Blazers are such an instant way to level up your outfit, make it smarter and add a layer over to make you feel more confident if you are feeling self conscious about your middle area to slimline your figure perfectly.
Unfortunately it’s no longer online but keep an eye out in spring when the summer styles come in as a linen blazer is a classic for every year. But I’ve found a few blazer styles that are classics and great investments for your wardrobe.
3. M&S Animal print dress
I just fell in love with this print and colour combination of the red, pink and black are just perfect for me. And as a T shirt style dress I knew I would get lot’s of wear out of it as I could dress it easily up or down.
Also being animal print this would not date, the shape is very flattering so I am confident I’ll be wearing this dress in many ways next year too.
I loved it so much I did a 5 ways to wear blog featuring it and showing how to wear a bold print in different shape ways. click here to read that blog
This dress is sadly no longer on sale but keep your eyes out on pre loved sites such as vinted as one of my followers got lucky on there and found this dress second hand.
Instead I’ve found a few other animal print dresses that are also great styles to add to your wardrobe.
4. Boden Breton top
This top has to be my most worn top of 2021, goes with everything and stripes are timeless, chic and easy to wear. Investing in quality in terms of fabrics when buying something you know you will get lots of wear out of is always a good investment.
I recommend Borden’s Breton tops to everyone I know and all my clients as I just love them. And they have a fantastic sale on at the moment so it’s really worth investing in some nice tops for spring summer now.

5. Slogan sweat
I love the quality and the boxy shape of the Whistles sweatshirts. They go perfectly with high waisted jeans, skirts and over dresses. An all year round item that you can wear is so many ways they are always a great buy.
I love a sweatshirt and I purchased this one in the Black Friday sale so at a discount it’s even better, knowing I will get lots of wear out of it.
