Spring is all about layering , items of clothing that you can build up and down making your outfits suitable and stylish, for the ever changing British weather.
With that in mind, this week technically the start of Spring in UK, I wanted to look at jackets that are perfect transition pieces. These are all wardrobe essentials, classic styles and they will get lots of wear and come out every year! Perfect for layering and working with what is already in your wardrobe.
I’ve covered the key styles and I’ve selected couple of my high street favourites, this is quite a big topic however, so I will be following this up in future edits.

The Leather jacket

Goes with everything, wear forever . A real investment buy you can’t go wrong with. It’s worth investing in quality leather as it will last a lifetime.
I didn’t need to update these as they still stand as quality classics.
The Classic trench

Trench’s are always in fashion and look very chic. Stay with the classic or go with a coloured version like this lovely soft pink.
Hobbs also do a petite version of their classic trench coat.
The khaki rain coat

My absolute wardrobe essential for the school run and any trip away in this country. A lighter casual jacket style that is so practical for the ever changing weather. Throw over a sweat/ hoody or a knit now then a t-shirt later on.
The Blazer

How to smarten up your causal wear instantly, a blazer, this wool version is great as easy to wear over a light jumper / hoody/ top / t shirt.
Or a thinner more relaxed fit is perfect for layering when the weather turns a bit milder.
The Utility shacket

I live in mine when the weather turns milder, great for wearing with jeans and over dresses. An easy item to layer up with and the khaki colour makes it really wearable with the other items in your wardrobe. Works especially great with denim.
The Denim jacket

I bought a denim jacket last year but previous to that my denim jacket was about 20 years old! They really do last forever. My advice is buy a classic style ( not cropped!) in a shade of denim that you like and it will serve you well every year. There are loads of options on the high street, the M&S denim jacket is the one I bought last year so I also know that this is a really good buy if you are looking for a budget friendly option.
