The Perfect Edit – Boden’s Spring Basics

After featuring Boden in my New In Mailer this week I saw they had so many great basics that had just come in online, I wanted share why I think that their basics are such a wardrobe essentials. Boden do really good quality basics that are perfect for your work, WFH, smart casual and weekend wardrobes, these basics are always on my client shopping boards.

Just as a note I don’t currently work for Boden, they are not paying me to write this blog ( I can but dream). I am using affiliate links as that gives me a very very small commission if you do go on to purchase, but it’s more like buying me a coffee, its not paying for the time it takes me to put these blogs together. I just love doing it, so this is me sharing my opinion as a stylist.

They may be slightly more expensive but you do get what you pay for and it’s a false economy if you have to re buy your basics every year, of course some T’s and tops get more wear and inevitably need replacing but good quality will last longer. Always think about your cost per wear before deciding if it’s worth spending the money.

The cost of the item divided by the number of times you expect to wear it ever = your cost per wear

For example a cheap top might only be £15 but if you wear it only a few times before it goes out of shape or looks worn and you don’t want to wear it again then it’s cost per wear is £7.50

But a quality T shirt that cost £25 if you get more than 10 wears you will be looking at less than £2.50 cost per wear.

Choosing to invest in your wardrobe so you aren’t buying into cheap materials is at the heart of trying to shop in a more sustainable way. Something that this brand takes very seriously in terms of sourcing materials.

“60% of our cotton currently comes from more sustainable sources and by 2023 it will be 100%”

Boden – sustainability message

This Blog does contain affiliate links where I make a very tiny commission if you buy through the link, think of it as a thank you to me for writing the blog, its not even enough to buy a coffee but I am very grateful for every single one as it means I can hopefully keep something that I love to do.

My Edit of their best Spring basic’s

Casual tops perfect for wearing with smart trousers/ skirts for work, comfy joggers as WFH style and your jeans and casual outfits for the weekend . All rounders that work hard in your wardrobe.

I would say think about your shape when looking at necklines ,if you have a bigger bust the higher neck styles such as the boat and slash neck will not be the best on you, so go for a V neck or round neck to flatter your top half.

Slash neck T shirt £25 ( 8 colours)
Boat neck long sleeve top £28 ( 5 colours)
Double layer V neck £32 (5 colours)
Double layer front top £32 ( 5 colours)

A cami is a such a great item in your wardrobe for layering and it looks nice underneath cardigan, they have made this one in 4 shades.

Lace cami £25 ( comes in 6 colours)

These double layer front body suits and vest tops are perfect for wearing either on their own with all of your bottoms or being layered under a blazer or casual jacket. The front layer means you won’t see your bra through it and the fabric gives a real smoothness to your figure. I have the best in white and wore it loads last spring summer.

Square neck bodysuit £32 ( 3 colours)
Double layer front vest £25 ( 5 colours)

Ways to wear

I have put together some outfit boards to show you how you can wear a good basic top in different ways across your week to get the most of out your wardrobe. I have used the body suit but it really would work for any basic top.

I hope that gives you some outfit inspiration!

Hope you enjoyed the read? I would love to hear your comments.
